Jeep Story.

Posted by

It all started with my friend Dan, and a planned hunting trip.

We went out to do some scouting I was so impressed by his jeep so within a few weeks I got me a Jeep Commander. Most awesome Jeep ever! this thing went just about everywhere and it was so comfortable it didn’t feel like I was off-road at all.

While all was going great, like most jeep owners I pushed it a little too far. After puddle jumping I went down a road that I have never been down before I see some more mud and I gun it, when I realized the mud hole was going to be way deeper than I anticipated it was too late. I braked and slid into a 3FT deep hole. My buddy who was behind me in his jeep said he seen my gas tank then my hood then tan again. I popped off part of the fender, and my friend was kind enough to drive up and retrieve it for me, lol of course he waved it around and yelled is this yours just to rub it in. What are friends for….

As you can see it does not look like the jeep suffered much damage mostly cosmetic but I bent the radiator support and that caused the radiator to tweak poking a hole in it so after a while that ended up needing to be replaced. 🙁

Replacing the radiator ended up be an extensive endeavor had to remove the entire front end.

Ipushed forward and I got it bent back out and all put together and it looked good. Doesn’t look too bad.

After repairing the damage on the commander, I decided to look for another jeep that I could bash around and not worry about the damage. While towing a car that another friend bought for the engine, I asked the guy we picked up the car from if he would be interested in selling his jeep that he has in the drive way. He said sure $700.00 and it’s yours I said how about $300 he said ok I can do that. Well I thought hey for $300.00 and the price of a lift kit I would have a jeep I could goof off with and take on my hunting excursions. Sounds good rite…. well as always life had another plan. I have pulled the engine twice rebuilt the head of the motor just to have the lower end start knocking. So now I am going to pull the motor once again to get the lower end rebuilt. But one that is done I have some plans to make get it all ready for next years hunting season.  So keep an eye out for the next Jeep blog post.
